This Weekend was so amazing! It was packed full with a variety of events and time spent with clients, friends, and family! We had several successful weddings, meetups, and baseball games. Although we love making our Clients happy with their events, it felt so good to enjoy time with my nephew Davonn, who is 10 years old.
In the midst of supporting Davonn and routing him on, I had thoughts of myself as a child and once dreamt of being a professional baseball player, like Ichiro Suzuki. Unfortunately, while I was growing up, my parents worked so hard that there wasn’t a way for me to be able to get to practice and pursue any type of sports. But it does bring me great joy to be a part of my niece and nephew’s lives.
On Sunday, he took part in the Annual Major League Baseball Pitch, Hit and Run Event for the Little Leaguers and won! During the Pitch, Hit and Run Event, any little leaguer, will complete first locally, then they have the opportunity to move on to regionals where they go on to play state level. The State Level will be hosted by the winner’s State Baseball Team. The event is for kids ranging 7 to 14, that get divided into age groups for competing; 7 and 8 division, 9 and 10 year olds, 11 and 12 together and finally the 13 and 14 year olds. My nephew, Davonn, played in the 9 & 10 Age.
The “PITCH” objective is to test accuracy by seeing how many strikes are pitched into a designated "Strike Zone" target from a distance of 35 feet for the softball division and 45 feet for the baseball division. Competitors can use underhand/overhand pitching or throwing and any attempt hitting ANY portion of the target will be deemed a strike.
The “HIT” part of the program tests a player’s ability to hit from a stationary batting tee, along a tape measure from home plate, toward straight-away centerfield. Hits are measured for distance and how accurate they hit the ball.
The “RUN” portion measured their speed by sprinting from the start line, touching third base, and touching home plate. ALL participants had to run a total of 120 feet.
After the final event was completed, the judges tallied up all the scores. You can imagine how everyone was nervously awaiting the results. This is especially the case, since the winners of the event qualify and are then put in a pool, with all the winners from other competing states. If they get the highest overall score, the MLB will fly you out to complete during the All Star weekend for a chance to be number one in the country! When the final scores from Sunday’s game came out, we were ecstatic to find out Davonn had won in his age group and was moving on to have a chance at being #1 in the country!! Now we are anxiously awaiting to see if he will be chosen to move onto the next level for the overall title!
As I’ve grown, I’ve realized the importance of following your dreams and to do all you can to be there for those you love. I may not be a Professional Baseball Player, but my family, friends and clients make me feel like somewhat of a super star. Whether it’s by hiring me to bring them lasting memories through the art of Photography, spending time meeting up with friends or getting to support my family with their goals and dreams.
Here is more details about the event and or if your interested in having your kids compete in the Pitch, Hit and Run Events.

“We’re Not Just Your Photographer, We Are Your Friends First”
-Truong Nguyen
Welcome to my Second blog post! My motto, for years has been, “We’re Not Just Your Photographer, We Are Your Friends First”. That’s why I am so excited to share my first blog post about one of my colleagues and friends, Charles of EatSeattle. Charles and I first met, four years ago, in 2013. After meeting him and his wife, they hired me to photograph their wedding.. Since then our Relationship has also grown over the last four years. Sometimes it’s hard to believe it has been that long.
Charles and I have made an effort to stay in contact regularly, catching up over coffee, discussing ways to support each other in business and life. In exchange for him taking the time to teach me more about branding and marketing, I have been teaching him more about the technical aspects of photography. As we worked together more, I started to see Charles more than a friend and colleague, but also as a mentor.
One of the many things we have collaborated on together is: EatSeattle. EatSeattle is a Premier Food & Lifestyle publication, based out of Seattle. Founded in 2001, by Charles, and today, it is one of the top publications in Seattle. As the Director of Photography for this premier publication, I feel so privileged to be a part of something so unique and exciting.
On June 3 2017, I had the pleasure of being there to take photos of Charles, first baby, Mackenzie. I felt so blessed to be a part of such a special moment in Charles life. I feel the best part is, more than our business relationship, I get to be there for the moments in their lives that really matter. I was given the honor of being an uncle for Mackenzie. Being there for their family has continued to reaffirm my life motto, “We’re Not Just Your Photographer, We Are Your Friends First”. In this case, we have grown to become more like family.
Thank you for being a part of my Second blog post and hopefully many more to come. I look forward to sharing these memories of my colleague, mentor and friends Wedding, Maternity shoot and baby Mackenzie.
